Pet Adoption and The Pet Care Professional
How have you benefited the cause of Pet Adoption today?
As a pet care business owner it is your responsibility to take action for pet care adoption every day. Your interaction within the pet care community gives you the power to impact pet adoptions in a powerful way.
Consider even the most routine activities of your day and find a way to infuse powerful adoption awareness strategies. If you run a doggy day care, you have an influx of potential adopters, foster parents or adoption evangelists in your clients.
How can you encourage your clients to be involved in pet adoption? The first step is to help your clients be the best prepared pet care owners they can be. The more empowered they are to care for and manage their own pets, the more likely they are to keep their own pets and adopt in the future.
This is the foundational strategy of Dog Business Daily.
Once they are confident pet care owners, they can be motivated to adopt multiple pets or foster animals who would otherwise be euthanized. Encourage your clients to get involved in the pet over population movement.
Educate your clients on the importance of pet sterilization and partner with your local humane society, shelters and veterinarians to hold clinics on pet sterilization activism.
Do constant searches for news you can share with your clients about pet sterilization. You never know who might be inspired to create a solution for pet euthanization.
Billionaire, Dr. Gary Michelson has challenged the scientific community to create a simple, painless, speedy single step sterilization technique. He is offering $25 - $75 Million Dollars to fund the research and development of such a technique.
It is possible the solution may come from one of your clients and you could be the catalyst inspiring the solution.

Her Name is Olive!
Little Olive to those who love her.
We picked up our rescue puppy today and if someone doesn’t adopt her soon - I am going to need a bigger bed!
(find more videos at YouTube under my screen name UnityDog)
She is sweet, very smart, good with dogs, even better with people, great with children. We have had an amazing day getting to know this little bundle of soft fur. She loves to be in my lap, can hold her own with Lucy and had 5 kids around to play with, 3 of them under 3 years old and she was wonderful.
She needs someone who has time to work with her. With all the smarts comes potential that needs to be realized. She is also a high energy pup - needs to play and run. Take a look at the videos we shot of her today and contact me via email with a phone and best time to contact with any questions. She has one more round of shots, due in two weeks. fran@dogbusinessdaily.com

Foreclosure Dogs
We are all too aware of the housing foreclosure crisis - we hear about it non stop on CNN and Fox.
What we might not be as familiar with is the impact the housing crisis is having on man’s best friend. There are literally thousands of dogs being abandoned in foreclosed homes and even more given up to local shelters by loving families who can no longer care provide for their care.
Shelters are becoming over-run with foreclosure dogs. While there are many grass roots efforts to provide care for these animals, if something dramatic is not done - we will see tens of thousands of dogs, formerly living in loving homes euthanized due to shelter over population.
I know we all have families and businesses of our own to care for but there is a universal law that good attracts good. If you need help - help someone else in need. If you are struggling financially - reach out to help someone else prosper.
When you give away what it is you perceive as lacking in your own life - you align your energy with what it is you desire. It is scientifically proven that performing a good deed raises serotonin levels in the person performing the good deed, in those who are the recipients of the good deed and even in those who simply observe a good deed.
I don’t want us focusing on the pain and suffering. I want us focusing on the solution. I can see thousands of dogs and their families re-united in loving embraces, hugs, waggles and kisses.
I see a young family inspired by the second chance we have given them. The inspiration drives them with new energy and hope to find that new job and residence. It isn’t too long before Sambo’s parents drive up in their pickup truck and retrieve Sambo from our orphanage.
He has had fun and love during his stay with the Doggy Orphanage but what he dreams about, what really makes his tail wag is the sight of his parents and children walking through the gate with his favorite squeeky chicken toy.
When Sambo hops into that pickup truck he knows it was just a dream. He was just at camp, his family never abandoned him. He knew they were coming to get him all along. And, suddenly, all the other dogs believe it might be true for them too.
Let’s give families hope to ignite their rebuilding efforts. Let’s give dogs a chance to be reunited with their loving families.
Contribute what you can - as often as you can to the creation and development of the Doggy Orphanage. Every dime you send us will go towards sheltering, feeding and caring for a foreclosure dog.
When you contribute I will send you a 6 week dog obedience course you can use to train your own dog, as a model to use in your obedience classes, or as a give away of your own for your clients .
Look for an announcement about a new site dedicated to the dog orphanage in a few days where you can donate and download your 6 week training course. I will be developing lots of other goodies, so keep checking back and sending us what you can.
The site will primarily be used to generate awareness and funds but will eventually feature pictures and stories of the dogs you are saving.
Please use the donate button to the right of your screen to help right now…and check back for the next few days for the official dog orphanage website link.
Thank you and bless you for helping these families and pets.

Dog Orphanage - For Families Who Just Need a Little Time
Opening soon - a Dog Orphanage for families who are financially unable to care for their best friend and just need a little time to get back on stable financial ground.
We plan to start up fast, with what existing space and resources we have available so that no more families who desire to keep their dogs will be forced to give them up to a shelter with little or no hope of ever being reunited.
Ultimately the orphanage will be a refuge for all dogs that have fallen victim to the economic realities of home foreclosure.
We are asking doggy day care facilities, pet hotels, kennels and any one else who has room to be a local holding and receiving resource to contact us. Our goal is that we will have several receiving and holding locations in every state within 30 days and every major city within the year.
We are also looking for every pet care professional in the country to step up and support the orphanage. We need support getting the word out, raising funds, providing transportation, raising awareness and giving hope to families in distress.
Can you imagine falling on such hard times that you were unable to remain in your own home, not knowing where you were going to live and how you would support you family, children, spouse - and then facing the ultimate decision to give up your dog?
This is not about blame or finger pointing. It is about the animals and how we can help them. It is also about how we can help heal the families. The burden that comes with giving up a beloved pet can be so heavy that some of these families will never forgive themselves and never recover.
We are all responsible. Don’t sit back and deliberate the problem - if you do - you are part of the problem. Be the solution. In whatever way you can. Even if you think it is too small to matter - it matters.
Everything you do with mindfulness of a loving solution helps. Even if you only help one single family, and one single dog, your contribution raises the level of awareness and the consciousness for the entire country.
When each one of us chooses to be a part of the solution the ripple effect soon becomes a tidal wave. The energy generated from the whole is exponentially greater than the effort of a single person.
It is a reality that we get what we give our attention to. When we focus on what we want and not what we don’t want - trouble can quickly turn into a blessing.
Lets all imagine happy endings for these dogs and their families. See the families back on solid financial ground and driving away from the orphanage with their happy, healthy, loving dog beside them.
Then, lets move from our imagination to action. Your first step is to contact us. Post a comment below to help start the ripple. Ask what you can do. Offer your time, energy, prayers, resources, funds.
Get the creative juices flowing and watch what we can do.
“We want to make a temporary home for the dogs who’s families cherish and love them and just need a little peace of mind, just a little bit of time and big dose of hope.”
This is a message to “rally the troops”. More details are coming soon.
We can give this amazing gift to hundreds and thousands of families - together.
Thank you for being a part of the solution.
Warm Waggles,
Fran

Rescue Dogs - Go Ben Stein!
In a recent appearance on CBS Sunday Morning Ben Stein shines the spotlight on the toll the growing home foreclosure crisis is having on the family pet, our most recent economic orphans.
“Ben Stein’s Pet Peeve As Americans continue to experience financial setbacks during these times of economic hardship, Ben Stein notes that pet animals are often overlooked and sometimes abandoned under harsh conditions.”
Regardless of how and why, families are abandoning dogs and cats - we need to focus on saving these pets. Without our help these dogs and cats are destined to uncertain and frightening futures.
As pet care business owners we need to take a stand for animals in our communities. Please visit my post on this topic from January at: http://dogbusinessdaily.com/blog/?p=25
Let me hear what you have been doing in your community to help.
Together we can make a difference - lets empower each other with ideas and energy. When we share our inspired, innovative and creative ways to get our communities involved the word spreads to communities all across the country and dogs, cats and pets are rescued by the hundreds!
Lets make it happen.

Protecting Our Babies - How You Can Make A Difference Right Now!
The Humane Society just published an article about the rising number of foreclosures and the impact it is having on pets. Many people, financially struggling to survive themselves, are making the decision to abandon their homes and leaving their pets behind.
As Pet Care Business Owners it is our responsibility to care for the animals in our community. We are the professionals and must reach out and become a part of the solution. Lets not just sit back and ponder the situation and debate about the authenticity of love of these in need pet owners…do something.
Take the initiative to band together all the pet care professionals in your community and canvas neighborhoods. Offer to take in pets; offer to take pets to the humane society; offer a drop off for pets. Use whatever resources you have to give these pet owners options. Don’t let a single animal in your community be abandoned because of inaction on the part of the pet care community.
As you network with other pet care professionals in your community you will undoubtedly come up with creative ways to reach out - please share with the rest of us. A community sharing ideas is a powerful source for change. Please comment here with the actions you are taking and success stories as they happen. I am rallying the troups in Auburn Alabama - we will keep you updated on our progress. Also, if you have a website, put a link to this post on your site…help pay it forward.
Please be sure to post your rescue stories - my hope is that we can help protect and care for these animals long enough for their owners to get back on stable financial ground so that families can be re-united.
No Pets left behind!
Warm fuzzy hugs, happy waggles and cold noses to nuzzle. Let’s make sure we only have happy endings.
