My Babies

Lucy and the Giant Bone

I have adopted 4 rescue dogs (so far):

Patti - 8 1/2 year old lab mix: She showed up on the doorstep of my new home 4 months after I got there. She came the same day contractors started working on replacing tile in my front hall. I thought she belonged to one of the “guys”. When she hung around - I called around to find her owner - no one claimed her. The neighbors say she wouldn’t approach anyone but me. I let her in my house and she took her place as my co-pilot. She rides in the passenger seat every where we go. An 85 lb lap dog!
Patti - Couch Potato

Winnie - 5 1/2 year old shephard mix: She was an “unplanned” adoption. My brother convinced me to go to the Lee County Humane Society, http://www.leecountyhumane.org, to look for a puppy for our mom for Christmas. Well mom never got that Christmas present but Winnie came home with me the next day. A day later my brother and I were to drive 850 miles to Ohio for Thanksgiving. Winnie came along and got potty trained at mom’s house. Lucky mom!

Winnie Chillin’

Bailey - 3 year old Blue eyed, long legged Beagle mix: was left on the side of a road. Some kind soul picked her and her brother up and took them to my vet’s office (Dr. David Harding, Parkway Animal Hospital, 1935 Opelika Rd. Auburn, AL 36830, 334-821-7672- Best Vet in the WORLD). I happened into the office after returning home from a business trip - needed to pay my pet sitter (who was working at Parkway at the time). Little Bailey was there! I took her home and the rest is snuggle history.
Bailey - Taking A “Lucy” Break

Lucy - almost 2 mos old now - up to 13 lbs (from 3 lbs when I adopted her) - Blue Heeler maybe Beagle Mix: I visit Shelters and Humane societies fairly often to hug the dogs. This time I went to see if there was anyone I could love and bring home. Lucy was the one! She came from a litter of about 8 pups that were dropped off at the Humane Society one evening. She is the most challenging pup I’ve ever dealt with. She has aggression issues and very very strong will - she is loveable and sweet too. Couple more weeks until her last shots and she is going to Oak Bowery Kennels for obedience training for a month. Chris Adams is the owner/trainer at Oak Bowery - he specializes in retriever training. He has an amazing ability to communicate with dogs. Obedience Training is guaranteed for life! Lucy 6 weeks old.
