Robert Sheer blamed President Bush for the current level of oil prices in an article posted on the Huffington Press 6/11/08; claiming:

“Yep, he did it; Bush’s deliberate roiling of world politics is the key variable in the run-up of oil prices. No president has been more brilliant in destabilizing the politics of oil-producing countries from Venezuela to Russia and on to the key oil lakes of Iraq and Iran.:

Others have accused Big Oil of price manipulation. While I don’t disagree with either of these theories - however, I believe there is a deeper politically motivated cause lurking in the shadows.

As in any good conspiracy theory, we look for those who benefit the most - we look beyond the obvious. Of course Big Oil is a willing participant but don’t stop there. How many Law and Order episodes have you seen? You know the obvious criminal rarely works alone.

When searching for the conspirators, we ask who might benefit from pulling the strings of Big Oil? Let’s first consider who gets hurt the most by the oil prices.

Of course the greedy Americans who consume more oil than the rest of the Universe combined. And that’s a lot…do you know how much fuel it takes to launch a martian spacecraft off the red planet? Isn’t it about time we were made to suffer?

Don’t forget American President Bush and the evil Republican Party. They have to pay! The next, and not the least, the American Automobile Industry.

Then a light bulb goes off. President Bush, while not harmless, certainly not capable of conspiring for any strategy that would require him to think six months down the road. Big Oil, sure, they are involved. No doubt…NEXT.

And here we start to follow the bread crumbs…they lead all the way around the globe to the United States’ largest importer…China.

Why would China want to harm the American Automobile Industry? Can’t they just be happy dominating the market?

I almost got stuck down the path of the communists killing the American Economy until…I realized there is no person or group so dangerous as those with a cause.

Whether the cause is noble or self serving - there is never a shortage of zealots. The “environmentalists” movement is no exception. If the American political system refuses to embrace the “green” efforts with the speed and passion the zealots believe it warrants - they do what zealots do - take matters into their own hands.

Bringing down the American auto industry is not even considered a sacrifice. They had their chance to make changes…the pitiful attempts at developing eco-friendly automobiles can no longer be tolerated.

I mean who are manufacturers fooling…a fuel efficient Tahoe! Are you kidding me, whoohoo a Hybrid SUV now gets 22 mpg? Hybrid and SUV - not really quite getting the spirit of conservation.

So there you have it…blame the tree huggers.

If Oliver Stone makes a movie with an eerily similar plot - you guys will remember it was my idea right?
