Adopting a Puppy This Holiday Season?

Many of your clients will be adopting a new dog or puppy this holiday season.  It is an opportunity for you to coach your clients on the benefits of adopting a shelter or rescue animal.

Some suggestions for expanding your reach to the community where first time pet owners may be considering holiday adoption:

  • volunteer to speak at PTA meetings
  • hold fund raising events at high profile community businesses
  • support your local shelter by volunteering, encourage your clients to volunteer
  • sponsor a fund raising event to benefit your local shelter or rescue organization
  • advertise for successful rescue/adoption groups like petfinder.com

Ribbon awareness is so common now - even if people don’t know what a rescue ribbon stands for - they will know it is a cause to help pets and will likely engage strangers in conversation.  You can purchase ribbons from the HSUS here.

Please share ways your business helps promote rescue adoptions with our readers.

Little Olive is looking for a forever home.

She is a sweet, very intelligent and super snuggly little blue heeler mix.  Her ideal home would be one with a fenced in yard so she can run and play. If the owners work from home - even better.  She loves to sit in my lap while I work on the computer.

Olive is the easiest puppy I have ever had - although not “house trained” yet - she sure seems like she is.  We have only had a couple accidents in two weeks.

She plays with other dogs well, is very well balanced, loves kids, big and small.  She really isn’t as high energy as I was expecting but she definitely needs to play and run every day.  If you work from home - she would be a great companion.

Olive would love to be the center of attention, or a little sister to a puppy or small dog.  She is great with big dogs too as long as they don’t play too rough.
